Indian Head Massage

Indian Head Massage

Indian head massage is based on the Ayurvedic system of healing which has been practiced in India for over a thousand years. The treatment provides Indian families with relaxation and healing on a daily basis in the home, as well as playing a part in wedding and birth rituals and everyday events like a trip to the barber.

The aim of Indian head massage is to release the stress that accumulates in the tissues, muscles and joints of the head, face, neck, arms and shoulders. Indian head massage is especially good for relieving stress, tension, fatigue, insomnia, headaches, migraine, eyestrain and sinusitis. Clients report that the experience is deeply calming and relaxing, leaving them feeling energised and revitalised and more able to concentrate.

The treatment helps to increase joint mobility and flexibility in the neck and shoulders, improves blood circulation and lymphatic flow, frees knots of muscular tension, relaxes connective tissue, and aids in the elimination of accumulated toxins and waste products.

What to expect during an Indian Head Massage session

At our first session I take a medical history from you, including any past and present illnesses, accidents, medication, allergies, diet and lifestyle. Then, together we will agree a treatment plan.

The client sits in a massage chair for the treatment. I will use a range of different movements including deep kneading and compression movements over the neck, shoulder, arm and scalp areas and more gentle stroking movements on the face.

Please allow up to an hour for a first session, and approximately forty minutes for follow up treatments.
